About Jeff
Jeff has lived in the 82nd Assembly District for 23 years.
After graduating from college Jeff was asked by his employer, a printing company, to move to Phoenix, Arizona and open a new location for them. He met his wife Lynn, a Greenfield native, also working in Phoenix then as well.
In 1986 Lynn and Jeff moved to Wisconsin, married and went into business together. Initially starting in the basement of her parents home, the two worked together to build a successful enterprise that still serves local businesses as well as several statewide.
Jeff became active in the community almost immediately after making Greenfield his new home. He has served as a Chamber of Commerce officer, sponsored the local business expo, and has won awards for his service, including Business of the Year in 1998.
Representative Stone began elective public service as a member of the Greenfield Common Council in 1994, and served through 1998. During four years as alderman, Jeff worked to control taxes, and build a sound fiscal plan. The city debt was nearly eliminated by the plans put in place during his tenure as Finance Chair, and the City’s Bond Rating was upgraded.
In April 1998 while finishing a term as President of the Greenfield City Council, Jeff was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in a Special Election. He was re-elected in November of that year to a full term, and since has been re-elected five more times.
Jeff continues to work to keep taxes low, keep our communities safe, protect our right to vote, and build a strong economy for our region and state.
Since coming to the Assembly, Jeff has been a champion for lowering the tax burden on Wisconsin’s working families, small business owners and seniors. Jeff has been on the forefront of finding innovative ways to reform and streamline Wisconsin government while ensuring vital programs for Wisconsin’s seniors and most vulnerable citizens, like SeniorCare and FamilyCare are protected. For over a decade, Jeff has been leading the charge to protect the integrity of Wisconsin’s electoral system by authoring and passing photo ID legislation. During the 2010 – 12 Legislative session, Jeff served as the Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Health and is a former member of the Committee on Joint Finance and past Chairman of the Assembly Transportation Committee.
Jeff and his wife Lynn currently live in Greendale and are active in numerous community and civic organizations including the Greendale Lions Club and the South Suburban Chamber of Commerce among many others. Jeff is also a member of the Milwaukee County Republican Party and is an avid fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers.
